Recital Time!

I guess you could say I am just one proud auntie!! Lora had her dance recital this last weekend and she did awesome! Her dance studio presented Sleeping Beauty, the ballet, and Lora was part of the last act doing the Puss in Boots dance. It was so cute. There was about 12 girls and she was honestly the only one that did the whole dance, very unusual for the preschool class. She's a natural!! Duke felt like it was th longest recital ever, but he also hasn't ever been to one. It only lasted an hour and twenty minutes with a few awards at the very end, unlike our usual 3 hour recitals...it was a breeze! Very fun to see her excitement about one of the things I love. Great job Lora!

What a "wonderful" investment

Hello big safe! So, Duke has a bunch of guns that his grandpa had been storing. My father-in-law said the only way we could bring them home is if we got a safe. We looked at them, or Duke did, all over and found some on sale. It ended up being $100 more for twice the size. So we invested in it! For all those important documents right?

We had to rent a U-haul to bring it home and then needed 5 guys to get it out of the truck. 1000 lbs. later, it is now sitting in the garage waiting for us to move again. Funny, funny, one thing I really never thought I would own and the first big purchase we made together! Woohoo!

April Weekends and ALL the visitors

Mary and Me

The first weekend in April Mary came to visit!! I hadn't seen her since the wedding and it was about time. We had a lot of fun exploring... and finding the "long cuts" to different places. We went down town and then while we were there went to the farmers market. It was fun and not really what I expected. We also went to some hot springs and thats where we went the longest way possible but it was a fun little adventure.

The second weekend in April MomE came to visit!! She made the trip after dropping Karissa off at school. We had a great time and spent a lot of it with Keith and his family.

The third weekend in April was Jared and Lindsay's wedding (Duke's friend)!! We took the trip down to UT and stayed with mom. We took the girls, Lora and Adeline, with so they could spendthe weekend with GramE and boy was it a trip!! We also got to see Duke's dad and the rest of our family down there in. Quick trip but always exciting!

Adeline passed out just for about 1 hour on our 5 hour trip down...and boy doesn't Lora look excited, more like exausted!

The fourth weekend in April Alisha came to visit!! They came for a cousin's baptism but stayed with us and also stayed a couple extra days with the kids. We had a great time and I now understand how much time you have to plan around kids schedules of sleeping, eating and changing diapers.

Valentine's Day

What a mess

Our first valetines day being married didn't turn out the way that it typically should. Duke and I celebrated the night before with him doing homework until 10:30 and going to school again at 8 on Saturday. He got me the prettiest flowers with tulips an roses and I cooked up something fun while he was doing homework. I cooked up some leftover wontons... not left over from before- made with all leftovers, and needed to be used up foods. They turned out pretty good. I made 4 different kinds.

The next day after Duke had class we went to Twin Falls to say farewell to his Dad. He is going to Afghanistan for 14 months and we wanted to see some of the family too that I haven't met. After that little escapade we took the trip down to Utah to see Mom and some more family. It was a quick but very rewarding weekend.

2009 already flying!

Wow! January flew by and I didn't even get in my New Years fun.

Duke and I went started a road trip to Rapid City but didn't make it because of the weather. We stayed instead at Richelle's for a few days and on the way stopped at Alisha's. It's always fun to see family.

We have started the old routine again of school and work. This semester I am taking institute a little more seriously and also staying in shape. Duke is staying busy with school and work.

We have almost hit our 6 months and boy has it flown by too!!

First Christmas

Becoming a Homemaker?!?

Since I quit my last two jobs and started up a whole new one with new hours that break up the day, I have found more time in my schedule. I go to more activities, I get to be home more to clean and make things beautiful (especially for the holidays) and I also get to cook at least once a day. I definitely think I feel more put together.
One thing that has been fun for the last few days and something I think will be fun to do while watching TV is knitting. For a focus group some girls from our ward learned how and I think it's pretty interesting! I think it will be fun and a great gift too! Duke already picked out the yarn for his scarf! I just think it's amazing all of the things you miss out on when you are so consumed with work and the hustle bustle of life.
