2009 already flying!

Wow! January flew by and I didn't even get in my New Years fun.

Duke and I went started a road trip to Rapid City but didn't make it because of the weather. We stayed instead at Richelle's for a few days and on the way stopped at Alisha's. It's always fun to see family.

We have started the old routine again of school and work. This semester I am taking institute a little more seriously and also staying in shape. Duke is staying busy with school and work.

We have almost hit our 6 months and boy has it flown by too!!

First Christmas

Becoming a Homemaker?!?

Since I quit my last two jobs and started up a whole new one with new hours that break up the day, I have found more time in my schedule. I go to more activities, I get to be home more to clean and make things beautiful (especially for the holidays) and I also get to cook at least once a day. I definitely think I feel more put together.
One thing that has been fun for the last few days and something I think will be fun to do while watching TV is knitting. For a focus group some girls from our ward learned how and I think it's pretty interesting! I think it will be fun and a great gift too! Duke already picked out the yarn for his scarf! I just think it's amazing all of the things you miss out on when you are so consumed with work and the hustle bustle of life.

Haunted Corn Maze

Before Halloween a bunch of us went to a haunted corn maze not too far away. It had so much to do. There were the two different mazes: the normal corn maze that you had to find your way (it was actually an Obama and McCain maze that you could see from an arial view) and then the haunted corn maze, which turned into be quite the adventure. They had hay rides, a little kid amusement park with a blow up trampoline, and many activities for kids during the day.

All of us wanted to get the haunted corn maze but there was a huge line. So went into the Obama/McCain maze to start out with. We heard chainsaws through the corn and figured that we could just cut through the corn to get to the haunted maze so we wouldn't have to wait in line.

We did and ended up at toward the end where the chainsaws were. CREAPY!! The chain saw

guys were coming after us so we took off through the corn again! They followed us and Brooke

ended up twisting her ankle and being surrounded by them. We were all freaking out but it only lasted for about 5 minutes to the end of the maze. That was it? At the end we could cut through to the beginning and so we did. It wasn't like the first time. We already knew what was going to happen. So we finished and went and played on the playground.

It was a good time and a good beginning to the fun holidays coming up!!

My New Bread Makin' Machine

Before Duke and I got married we figured out what we wanted on our registry. He continued to say how much he wanted a bread maker and I just kept saying, "Well whats wrong with me?" He insisted and with the extra gift card money from our wedding I finally gave him what he wanted. We made a deal to split the rest, he could have $100 and I $130 as long as we could get whatever we wanted. That's what he wanted and I couldn't argue anymore. Since, he has made bread almost everyday, which has only been 4 days but with every day he gets better at it and refines his techniques.
The first time he had dumped in all the ingredients and thought it was right but the next moring it didn't look like bread. It was a crumbly flour mess. That day I tried it my self to see what went wrong and while it was mixing Duke looked at it and said, "Yeah, mine didn't do that, it didn't stir evenly." Who knows what he did, but now it works just fine. He will joke saying, "I'm your bread makin' machine!" It's cute and I think this great idea of his will come in handy for me too.

Weddings, Weddings, Weddings

A month and a half after Duke and I got married his older sister Kendra was hitched. We had about the same courting length and both of us met in our singles ward. She was married in the brand new Twin Falls temple, which is beautiful.
Duke used to only live a couple blocks from the temple site and played on the grounds when he was younger. It was a golf course and open field.
A funny fact about the area-- Surrounding churches were not very excited about the temple being built there and the size the temple spire was going to be. It was against city ordinance to have something as high as the spire was planned. Of course, the church was able to get it passed so a church just about a block down had to make their steeple higher...out of what looks like an antenna or a radio tower. It's not as tall and definitely not intimidating.
Before "the Hinckley's" wedding dinner started Duke and I were able to stop by the Conover's house to visit. Jared Conover is Duke's best friend and was our bestman. His parents have always played a huge part in Duke's life by setting a high standard for him to follow. The rest of the day was all great wedding festivities.

So I gave it a try!

After seeing all the great ways to record the important things in life I decided to try to do the same...here goes!
